Someone over at Hotbox made it to our site and submitted this one for review, and with a domain like that how could I not have a look! The hotbox I remember is Danni’s Hot Box aka Danni’s Hard Drive from the legendary Danny Ashe. This site has nothing to do with that one, but it’s still her company and her domain. They just decided to make a XXX DVD site and use this domain.
Hotbox.com is a DVD download destination, with a huge archive of films. The main page says they have nearly 3500 movies, including 17,000 scenes, from more than 6,150 porn stars. They add 10 new movies every day.
Speaking of the tour, I enjoyed that you can sort the niches on their sidebar to browse either the scenes or the movie box covers. Many sites only have one or the other. Also you’re able to get a short preview of any movie, using the same player available in the members area. Would be nice if the previews lasted longer though, they’re short and you only get 3 of them.
Videos can be viewed on the site using a unique player I haven’t seen before, that has a scrolling thumbnail timeline underneath. It can also be used to skip through the movie, but it’s not really useful as it only goes forward a few seconds. They do have a normal slider though, so if you want to go halfway through that’s no problem.
If you’re like me though you’ll prefer to download the movie files in their 640×480 DVD quality format. Some of the files get pretty big, I saw one that was 1,355mb! However most are in the 200-500mb range.
I found this site had a good archive of older movies, including lots from Penthouse. The amount of content they have make it a contender, but still they fall short of the big guys who have more than 6,000 titles at this point.
They have a lot of tags, and have inputted model names and niches for all videos. I think that’s really important, and they did a good job there.
The price is right here, at only $9.95 a month. If you want to try out a different adult DVD site, this could be a good choice for you. One final thing – they seem to have a thing for Alexis Amore. She seemed to be everywhere on the site!
